An Aid To the
Tribulation Period

This web site intends to approach ancient mysteries presented by
the Holy Scriptures with some modern insights and applications. Due to
improvements in archaeology and wider funding for searching out ancient
sites, much information is coming into the market of ideas; a good deal
of it is supportive of traditional interpretive ideas, some of it
appears contradictory, and some is simply apostate.
For example, by using the interpretation of Numbers presented on this
site, a prophetic calendar can be constructed. Here we combine the
ancient Julian Calendar with the modern calendar version. The Julian
Calendar postulates that in the year 4713BC the lunar cycle [12
months of 29½ days, or 354 days a year] and the solar cycle
[365¼ days a year as computed today] and the Roman Indication
Cycle [15 years] exactly coincided, and they would run their separate
courses for 7980 years,
when they would exactly coincide again. The date 4713BC was supposedly
set arbitrarily in 1582 by the scholar Joseph Scaliger, although there
may be evidence that that date was chosen earlier.

The ARK OF THE COVENANT

Much has been written about the fate of the ancient Ark of the Covenant; some
believe it was carried off by foreign conquerors centuries before the
time of Jesus; some believe it is in Axum, Ethiopia; and some believe
it is where it has almost always been: on the Temple Mount.
Author Randall Price has written variously on these matters [especially
Searching for
The Ark of The Covenant, Harvest House Publishers, Eugene, OR;
copyright © 2005]. He cites some of the Hasidim of
Israel who claim to know where the Ark is, and that it is hidden within
the Temple Mount in a maze of tunnels, some blocked up or hidden.
This author is inclined to this idea, mostly due to Revelation,
Chapter 11; speaking of the Two Witnesses, verse 8 states: And their dead bodies shall lie in the street of the great city, which
spiritually is called Sodom and Egypt, where also our Lord was crucified.
Verse 19 contains the last mention of the Ark in Scripture: And the temple of G·d was opened
in heaven, and there was seen in His temple the ark of His testament...
Even though verse 19 describes the
temple of G·d ... in
heaven, the close proximity of these two verses should
not be discounted. There could be an implication that the Ark of the
Covenant will be 'seen' at the place where the bodies of the Two
Witnesses lay in the street.
The Greek word for street
also means a broad place, an open square - and is the
precursor to the English word 'plate'.
Just about the only broad open place
in Jerusalem, a city of deep valleys and high ridges, is the Temple
Mount, Mount Zion.

This is a topographical view of Jerusalem at the time of Jesus;
the Temple Mount is in the center right of the picture. It is easily
seen that both to the right - the Kidron Valley - and the left - the
Tyropoeon Valley - of the Temple Mount, the ground slopes steeply away;
the gradient is less severe to the north and south.
